Comment Policy

Comments Welcome

This blog exists to discuss the nuances of disaster management. That conversation is richer when practitioners and researchers engage together. I welcome comments that:

  • Share relevant field experience or research insights
  • Offer constructive disagreement or alternative perspectives
  • Ask genuine questions that advance the discussion
  • Add nuance or additional context
  • Challenge ideas respectfully

Comments I’ll Remove

To keep this a productive space, I may remove comments that:

  • Include personal attacks, harassment, or hate speech
  • Are off-topic, spam, or promotional in nature
  • Derail professional discussion with unrelated or purely partisan arguments
  • Mischaracterize the substance of a post in a way that prevents meaningful discussion
  • Contain threats, intimidation, or abusive language

Disagreement Is Welcome

Disagreement is not only allowed—it’s encouraged. The purpose of this blog is to surface and explore tensions between research, policy, and practice. I won’t remove comments simply because they disagree with me or offer a different perspective, as long as they are shared in good faith and contribute to the discussion.

Moderation

All comments are reviewed before appearing on the site. This helps filter spam and maintain a constructive discussion, but it may mean there is a short delay before your comment is visible.
